In October 2023, PT Bank Central Asia (BCA) continued its commitment to bolster Indonesia's economy, particularly focusing on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), a pivotal pillar in the country's economic development. Through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Bakti BCA, they executed various programs to empower SMEs.
The month began with BCA supporting local creative entrepreneurs in an event called 'BCA Goodlife X Brightspot Market 2023,' showcasing over 200 curated local brands in fashion, culinary, arts, and music. This initiative aimed to enhance the shopping and transaction experience, aligning with BCA's dedication to sustainable development goals.
BCA solidified its support for SMEs by partnering with PT Otten Coffee Indonesia, offering easier access to financing through the Personal Business Credit (KUR) program, specifically aimed at the coffee industry. They provided loans with competitive rates and waived administrative fees, supporting SMEs' accessibility to financing.
BCA has been actively supporting Indonesia's coffee industry expansion into the international market. Participating in the Indonesian Coffee Festival in Russia in 2021, BCA engaged UMKM coffee businesses from various regions through programs like BCA UMKM Fest and BCA Local Pride. Moreover, BCA contributed to the Kopi Fest as part of the 'Proud of Indonesian Made' National Movement and #ProudLocal initiative since July.
BCA's commitment to SMEs extended to training initiatives. In collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs and the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), Bakti BCA facilitated export trade training for 60 SMEs, aiding them to meet international standards and expand market access. Additionally, Bakti BCA also supported a program providing 1,000 free halal certificates for SMEs, empowering them to manage product certifications independently.
The bank also forged a strategic partnership with PT Indonesia Bisa Ekspor to offer financing opportunities through the KUR program for young exporters. Financial data indicated significant growth in BCA's credits, with SME credits at the forefront, growing by 16.4% YoY, reaching Rp 104.8 trillion.
Throughout October, BCA's initiatives showcased their dedication to SMEs' growth and sustainability. They successfully organized the BCA UMKM Fest 2023, both offline and online, reaching 1,400 UMKM participants.
Moreover, Bakti BCA carried out various programs aimed at creating a positive impact on society and the environment. These programs included health and nutrition support for toddlers, environmental conservation efforts, and promotion of the circular economy by collecting and recycling plastic bottles.
Overall, BCA's efforts in October exemplified a concerted commitment to support SMEs, promoting their growth and sustainability while also contributing to the welfare of communities and the environment. These initiatives reflect BCA's larger goal of fostering a prosperous and sustainable national economy.
