Desa Binaan BCA Succeeds in Best Tourism Village Nomination

Desa Binaan BCA Perkampungan Adat Nagari Sijunjung has recently been nominated as one of Indonesia’s 75 Best Tourism Villages at the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia (ADWI) 2023. Out of 4,573 tourism villages that underwent a strict selection process, Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village has emerged as a potential economic driver for the community in Nagari Sijunjung.

With its vast experience in developing tourism villages in Indonesia, BCA believes that this achievement can create tourism appeal in Padang and increase the world's awareness of the uniqueness of Minangkabau culture. The jury assessed and reviewed the Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village on March 30, 2023, followed by a visit from the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia on April 1, 2023.

During the visit, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, the Deputy Governor of West Sumatra, Audy Joinaldy, the Regent of Sijunjung, Benny Dwifa Yuswir, the Deputy Regent of Sijunjung, H. Iraddatillah, and the Head of BCA KCU Padang, Robert Siahaan, were present to appreciate the authenticity of the matrilineal Minangkabau community. The Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village boasts 76 Rumah Gadang or traditional houses that symbolize the kinship of the maternal line and the clan.

Through its Bakti sponsorship, BCA has provided intensive mentoring and guidance to the Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village to develop its tourism potential. The ADWI 2023 program is an annual competition organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to elevate villages in Indonesia as world-class tourism destinations with global competitiveness. BCA hopes that the existence of ADWI can stimulate the country's economy and elevate Bakti BCA's sponsored tourism villages to become world-class tourism destinations.
