Determining the "best" burger is subjective, as it caters to individual preferences. Some crave classic, no-frills burgers, while others savor gourmet creations with diverse toppings and flavors. Ultimately, what makes a burger the best is a personal choice.
Last week, Artemis assisted McDonald’s Indonesia, under PT Rekso Nasional Food, in introducing the Best Burger. This initiative reflects McDonald's commitment to enhancing product quality and satisfying loyal customers of over 30 years. The global effort aims to transform cooking techniques, presentation, and ingredients to deliver burgers that are hotter, juicier, and tastier.
"Favorites like the Big Mac and Cheeseburger have captivated customers worldwide. We continually innovate to provide top-notch food quality. Global research revealed that by refining the cooking process, we can create hotter, juicier, and tastier burgers," said Caroline Kurniadjaja, McDonald's Indonesia's Associate Director of Marketing.
Customers can discern three major improvements in the Best Burger: the bun, the beef patty, and accompanying ingredients. McDonald’s Indonesia has tailored bun formulations for each menu. The Big Mac bun, for instance, now includes potato starch and butter & brioche flavor for a softer texture that complements the savory beef and rich sauce. Similarly, the buns for the Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, and Triple Cheeseburger have been enriched for increased softness.
"In fast-food settings, minor changes can have a significant impact. We've been preparing since 2020 to introduce the Best Burger with the highest quality to over 290 McDonald’s restaurants across Indonesia. This commitment includes using 100% halal beef processed without additional flour, preservatives, or dyes. We cook it without oil, seasoning only with salt and pepper to preserve the beef's flavor," explained Setyo Agus Widodo, Assistant Manager of Quality Assurance at McDonald’s Indonesia.
In addition to premium ingredients, the grilling process has been optimized for tender, juicy meat while ensuring food safety. Diced onions added directly to the grill create an enticing caramelization effect. The holding time for cooked meat has been reduced to 10 minutes, ensuring hotter and juicier servings, complemented by perfectly melted cheese and fresh veggies.
A key factor in the Best Burger's delectability is the Burger Master, responsible for ensuring McDonald’s new standards are met. "We've trained over 1500 selected crew members to become Burger Masters. They master preparation techniques, grill meat to perfection, and follow assembly processes to produce hotter, juicier, and tastier burgers," said Olia M Sidik, Associate Director of Training at McDonald’s Indonesia.
Remarkably, McDonald's changes do not affect product prices. Fans can now enjoy the Best Burger standard at all Indonesia restaurants, whether dining in, ordering takeaway, using the drive-thru, or through delivery services like McDelivery, GoFood, GrabFood, and ShopeeFood.
"We are confident that the introduction of the Best Burger will garner a positive response from the community, cementing McDonald’s Indonesia as a favorite fast-food restaurant with the best burger menu items that are not only delicious but also of high quality," Caroline concluded.
